L'Irlanda ha sorpreso tutti. Le stime della Comunità Europea lo scorso Novembre davano l'Irlanda a -2,3% e quindi in recessione come tutti gli altri 26 paesi dell'Unione. Gli ultimi dati Eurostat danno l'Irlanda incredibilmente in crescita con un +3.22%, riporta il sole 24 ore.
La "formula irlandese" di successo è sostenuta dalle esportazioni di società multinazionali (settore Farmaceutico e Information Technology) specializzate in apparecchiature mediche, prodotti farmaceutici e servizi informatici. Le città di Dublino e Cork ospitano le maggiori società Fortune 500 del mondo. Per citarne alcune: Apple, Google, Dell, Facebook, Oracle, Microsoft, Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, ecc...
L'intera Comunità Europea ha segnato una buona performance nel periodo estivo, inclusa l'Irlanda che non si è mai fermata. A trainare la crescita irlandese di fine anno è stata anche la revoca delle restrizioni prima di Natale che ha contribuito notevolmente il commercio.
Chiaramente l'Irlanda ha poi scontato a Gennaio di quest'anno questa "apertura natalizia" con un enorme aumento di casi, da 200 casi al giorno riportati prima di Natale agli 8.000 giornalieri di metà gennaio 2021.
